Counselling

Counselling is an opportunity to examine your inner world, life events, and anything causing confusion or distress, so that you can gain greater self-understanding.  It can also be a time to explore the psychological and somatic patterns that may be keeping you stuck so that you can create more space, and consider new options for coping and thriving.   I work from a relational, harm reduction, trauma-informed, and somatic orientation to help clients connect with their inner healing intelligence as they work towards their definition of recovery. 

My specialties include PTSD and trauma related conditions; mood and anxiety concerns; substance use issues and harm reduction; ADHD and neurodiversity affirming care; and Psychedelic Preparation and Integration. 

Nurse Practitioner Mental Health Services

New Offering...  Ketamine Assisted Therapy (KAP) from the comfort of your own home. 

As Nurse Practitioner (NP), I am qualified to diagnose mental health conditions, as well as independently prescribe, administer medicine, and supervise KAP Sessions.  These services are offered from the comfort of your own home, and supported by thorough online preparation and integration counselling, under my scope as a dual licensed Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC).  While I utilize tools like diagnostic assessments and lab work to determine eligibility, I maintain a non-pathologizing view of psychological distress, and focus on supporting your process, rather than DSM definitions. 

Home Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy is limited to medically low risk patients aged 19 or older, and residing in Vancouver or a nearby suburb. Patients must have no contraindicated conditions, and must have a qualifying mental health condition or end-of-life existential distress. 

Please note that Canadian private practice NPs are no longer permitted to charge for medically necessary services that are publicly available, so I am no longer offering regular prescription psychiatric medications through my private practice.  All prescriptions and essential health concerns must now be handled by a primary care provider in the public system. I am happy to collaborate with primary care providers and other clinicians, with your consent, as well as offering harming reduction consultations, medication coaching, and other specialized non-insured NP services.

Details of My Practice

Sessions are currently online only.  You will receive an automatic link to the session via Jane App approximately 30 minutes prior to your session. Please let me know if you prefer Zoom, in which case I will send you a link.    Please make sure you are connected to a strong and fast WiFi, and that you're in a quiet, private space.  

Rate - $250/60 minutes for new clients for counselling 

Sliding scale for counselling is available based on income, so please contact me to discuss eligibility if price would be the only barrier to service.

Fees are due on the day of the session, and may be paid by cash, e-transfer, or credit card

Cancellations: After an appointment is made, unless I get 24 hours notice that you won’t make it, you are responsible for the full fee. If you give me less than 24 hours notice, and I succeed in finding someone to take your appointment, your fee will be waived. The cause of missing an appointment is of no consequence: this policy is not punitive; it is to cushion me from the vicissitudes of your life.

Insurance: If your extended health plan covers Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC), you may be eligible for reimbursement depending on your provider’s limits.
